Oilers Defeat Stars 2-1 to Reach Championship Series

EDMONTON -- Connor McDavid had a goal and an assist while Stuart Skinner made 34 saves to help the Edmonton Oilers defeat the Dallas Stars 2-1 and advance to the Stanley Cup Final for the first time. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins also scored for the Oilers, who won the series 4-1. It is the Oilers' first Stanley Cup Final appearance since 2006.

McDavid's goal came on a power play in the first period, and Nugent-Hopkins' goal gave the Oilers a 2-0 lead in the second period. The Stars got on the board with a goal by Joe Pavelski in the third period, but Skinner made several key saves down the stretch to preserve the win.

Skinner was outstanding in goal for the Oilers, making several key saves in the third period to keep the Stars at bay. The Oilers will now face the Colorado Avalanche in the Stanley Cup Final, which begins on Monday night in Denver.
